Honda Brio Vs Maruti Alto 800: Choosing Your Car

Maruti Suzuki India with its brilliant vehicle ranges has been the most popular name in most of the Indian house hold but with various international car brands growing their market well in India and offering vehicles for all kinds of buyers, choosing from those international brands or from India’s own car maker has become a bit difficult.  Here is a brief comparison of Honda Brio Vs Maruti Alto 800, to make you decide well. Just have a quick look at both the cars to figure out what suits your purpose more.

Power & Mileage:

Brio comes loaded with 1.2litre, SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine of 4 cylinder 16 valves and 1198cc displacement  mated with 6 speed manual transmission as well as 5 speed automatic transmission options. It is capable of producing a maximum power of 86.8bhp at 6000rpm and top torque of 109Nm at 4500rpm.

The top mileage offered by the hatch is 19.4kmpl for the manual transmission and 16.5kmpl for the automatic transmission option.

The revamped version of Alto comes loaded with 796cc, 3 cylinder 9 valve petrol engine, a more efficient version of earlier 0.8litre petrol engine. The Bharat Stage IV emission norms complying petrol mill is capable of churning out maximum power of 47.5bhp at 6000rpm and maximum torque of 69Nm at 3500rpm.

The top mileage offered by the hatch is 22.74kmpl for the petrol variants and a smashing 30.46km/kg for CNG variants.

Interiors:

Brio hatchback is pretty well designed, sufficiently spacious and offers equally spacious boot space.  You get huge legroom and enough headroom together with technologically most advanced features like electrically adjustable ORVMs, USB & AUX-in integrated audio system with the controls mounted on the steering. You get good storage space and 5 people can comfortably fit in.

Maruti Alto 800 has really good space inside. Good leg-room, knee room, head room and shoulder room at the front and the back. 5 regular sized people can sit inside in most comfortable manner, however the thigh support still needs to be improvised and the comfort part is also not equivalent to the competitors.  There is enough storage space, and better technical features.

Exteriors:

The Honda hatch is most sportier is appearance and looks both pretty and smart at the same time! Its most elegant curves will get your eyes stuck on it, the grilles are just awesome and the sharp cat eye like head lights are most impressive. The rear of the car is equally attracting.

Maruti Alto 800 is far smarter and contemporary compared to its earlier version. It looks sportier and is pretty attractive. With 800 in the market, older Alto won’t be liked by the buyers now. It looks somewhat like A-Star with slight touches of Ford Figo. It is a small and sober car that will be loved by small family buyers.

Verdict:

If mileage, pricing, and after sales are to be seen Alto 800 is the best hatch to go for but if you prefer looks, comfort, and style go for Honda Brio.
